Ketamine, Xylazine and Droperidol-fentanyl for Anesthesia in Rats

Abstract

|
Sedative and anesthetic effects following intramusculary administration of Ketamine, Xylazine and Droperidol-fentanyl alone in Sprague Dawley albino rats were observed.
Ketamine and Xylazine alone showed slight sedation but did not produce surgical anesthesia.
Droperidol-fentanyl(Innovarr) at the rate of 0.09 ㎖/100g and 0.13㎖/100g B. W. maintained complete immobility for 22 to 41 minutes, 60 to 66 minutes, respectively. The agent was sufficient to provide satisfactory anesthesia far surgery in rats.
